Domaine Mestre Père et Fils

The Mestre family has been in Santenay since 1887. The domaine is now run by the fifth generation of winemakers. With a total of 17 hectares of vineyards spread out over 5 Côte de Beaune villages, they are producing 9 whites and 12 reds. All wines are made from grapes coming from the domaine. The pinot noir vines are 25-60 years old and the chardonnay vines are 10-50 years old. The grapes are harvested manually and are carefully selected. The reds are totally de-stemmed. Vinification is done in a traditional manner, the wine maturing in oak barrels which 1/4 are new oak. Maturing in barrels will last from 8-20 months for the reds and 6-10 for the whites. The domaine is considered as a small family business making wine in a very traditional way and the wines are receiving a very light filtering before bottling.
